ARCHITECTURE

Kari Leppänen Architects Ltd operates within the fields of building design, renovation and city planning. The office’s diverse projects vary from public works to business, office, and housing developments.

Our office is active in developing new building types such as Kuusela Family Rehabilitation Center in Vantaa and Coast Guard Educational Station for The Finnish Frontier Guard in Porkkala. Both buildings are the first in their field in Finland. The Educational Centre for the Finnish Army in Tuusula and the extension and renovation of the Vantaa Police and Justice Building required professional understanding of historical and townscape values.

The interior renovation of Finlandia Hall and the renovation of Hietaniemi Cemetery Gatehouse and Chapel are examples of our projects where environment and valuable historical buildings constitute high quality standards for architectural design.

Several retail stores and business premises executed in the resent years have given us important know-how at this segment of architecture. Retail projects are under construction in several towns and locations in Finland.

Housing complex Jyväskylän Akvamariini represents a new kind of small-scale apartment housing where the flexibility of the apartments allows for adjustments in the future, as the needs of the families change.
Many of our realized and internationally recognized exhibition projects demonstrate broad-minded thinking and innovativeness in combining new technologies into traditional exhibition design.

HISTORY

Kari Leppänen is second generation architect and follows the footsteps of his father architect Kaarlo Leppänen. The values of the lifelong work of Kaarlo and Kari Leppänen are reliability, professional ability and humanity.

The merging of Kaarlo Leppänen’s office to Kari Leppänen Architects Ltd combines together the work of two generations.
