Kaarlo Borg (1888–1939), who designed the apartment building, was a Finnish architect whose work is particularly associated with the transition period from classicism to functionalism in Finnish architecture. Kaarlo graduated as an architect from the Helsinki University of Technology.
During his career, he worked as a private architect and in various official roles. He designed buildings especially in Helsinki and other cities in Southern Finland and was also involved in several public building design projects.
Kaarlo Borg was a skilled and precise architect who represented the architectural transition of his time from classicism to functionalism. His buildings combine traditional form language with the practicality of modern architecture.
Although his name is not widely known internationally, he had a strong impact on the development of the Finnish building tradition in the early 20th century. He designed public buildings, such as schools and government offices, as well as apartment buildings, especially in Helsinki.
