Two apartment buildings are being completed in Kalasatama, Helsinki, at Vanha talvitie 7 and Tukkutorinkuja 2, as part of the EXCESS plus-energy building development project. The project comprises 5 to 8-story and 5 to 13-story apartment buildings with a total of 145 apartments, as well as 5 ground-floor commercial spaces and a parking garage. The total gross floor area of the project is 16,165 brm².
The apartment building project under construction is a pilot project for the EXCESS plus-energy apartment building, which is part of the EU’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program. The design object is a pilot building to be constructed in Finland, the design of which Basso has carried out in collaboration with various parties of the EXCESS project. On an annual basis, the completed building will produce more energy than is required for heating the house.
