The trip headed to the southern tip of Kimitoön, from where we took a boat from Kasnäs to the island of Ön and the cottage.
In the afternoon, we took a walking tour of the island, where, in addition to a badger’s den, we spotted a white-tailed eagle at its nest. The evening was spent enjoying the sauna, grilling, and playing board games.
The next day, we took a boat to nearby Örö, where we cycled to the 6-inch battery located in the southern part of the island. Along the way, we saw, among other things, the rare Pulsatilla patens (eastern pasque flower) in bloom. After a delicious salmon soup lunch, guided by the restaurateur, we explored the hotel designed in the old barracks and the seaside sauna in the harbor.
After arriving back in Kasnäs, we drove back towards Helsinki, richer by many experiences and adventures.
